“The tailormade consultancy trajectory Tikvah offered me is a simple yet very structured and enriching process which allows flexibility and creativity from my end to reflect on how I will apply the concepts of technical and human resilience in the course design.“

The (re-)design studio focuses on an analysis of the effectiveness and resilience of a course, and subsequent (re-)design into the desired outcomes and outputs. We advise and equip you to teach with clarity.

Two options are available:
1. A (re-)design studio that partners with you and provides independent senior advice in the form of concrete punctual interventions into your course/training design.

2. A (re-)design studio with a robust Training of Trainers (TOT) component which may involve your teaching team. Advice is provided in a report to be used with your team. See below.

Modules

The re-design studio is a tailor-made modular approach based on your expressed needs and our problem analysis. The complete list of modules can be found here.

Methodology and philosophy

The finite methodology for re-design was crafted by Tikvah Breimer (MSc MAEd MSc) over the past decade. We advise and teach you the essentials through our design angles which capture our finite methodology and philosophy.

Our goal is simplicity - by design.

The methodology is technical and pedagogical. It allows space for the coordinators involved to contextualise the approach for their own setting and values.

Fit for purpose

Our frameworks are fit for purpose. We see an analogy with land cadastres. We identify the way your curriculum works within a relatively short time and at relatively low costs and then propose a robust and resilient framework as you continue to develop and deliver your course or training.

This enables you to begin to work regardless of the overall context as you find the optimum way to apply the framework in your unique environment, improvise with technique, and innovate.

TOT component

The (re-)design studio can include a Training of Trainers (TOT) component for you as an individual coordinator as well as with your team. The difference between the audio podcast and the (re)design studio, is that here, in the studio, we introduce our clients to the actual formats that can craft an effective and resilient curriculum.

Craftmanship

The re-design studio with a TOT component demonstrates the pedagogical value and meaning of both face to face and asynchronous time. We speak to your imagination through visual work.

The initial work is undertaken away from screens or communication as much as possible. This undivided attention amplifies ‘flow’, and true enjoyment of the crafting phase.

The advisor stimulates you as a course/training coordinator to envision by hand: brain scans show that handwriting engages more sections of the brain than typing, and opens up the imagination, through a hand-heart-head connection. Drawing allows us to transcend the boundaries of current conditions and imposed restrictions.

At the start of the (re-)design studio, you receive a Japanese pen, straight from Japan, excellent for hand writing and drawing. An essential component of the studio with us, a brain-body based approach.

Location

We work in a blended way as much as possible. Our independent senior adviser and teacher trainer meets with you outside your institution. In that way, you experience the freedom to look at your course or training afresh. Alternatively, we can partner with you fully remotely.

Why not join us for a one week retreat of biodynamic agriturismo with our friends in Tuscany, Italy, to get the work done in an enjoyable way?

You can find the Azienda Agricola Agrituristica here and get a taste of its welcoming atmosphere. For more information tikvah@studioblended.com

Timeline

The advisor takes time and frustration out of the hands of the coordinator, offering flexible planning to fit your schedule for the duration of the project.

The advisor helps you by proactively monitoring timing and calendars. The (re-)design studio follows a rolling wave approach to planning: as we draw closer to the next output, we add more detail to the planning in order to meet your deadline.

Price

The price for independent senior advice is tailor-made to your needs and deadlines and comes as a package price for the impact and result.

Based on the information you provide through our dialogue with you, we scope the form of the work and result needed (and your deadlines). We assemble the right modules and a learning curve with maximum impact, and draw up a tailor-made quotation for your review.

Prices may range from 2.000,- (for bespoke advice dedicated to conclusions only, i.e. re envision the schedule and main ideas of the course/training) to 7.500,- (for full approach including finance, technology and including TOT components) per course, and are proportionately adjusted for entire portfolios (includes a strategic approach with an entire portfolio team). Prices in Euro, indexed for 2024.

Key projects

We just finished a re-design studio with a client, working on a 5 week post-graduate course for professionals at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) of Erasmus University, The Netherlands. More follows soon - here is a first impression of the graduation date with the course coordinator and our independent senior advisor.

“Along the way, Tikvah advised and equipped me how to simplify the course, by doing less actually, so that participants learn more – and it actually set free significant new budget.”
