Participant, PhD candidate
“The design studio was useful in foresight thinking about the relevance, longevity and usefulness of a MOOC” Participant, Community and project manager
‘Having worked with Tikvah on a complex multi-stakeholder digital and flexible education project, I can vouch for her organisational qualities, her abilities as a dialogue leader, and her knack for harmonising several ‘voices in the room’ into a usable solution. I would heartily recommend her as Project Lead.’

Are you embarking on a season of re-design of your course, degree or (European) programme?
Or perhaps, you have reached a point whereby you envision a new course, or master degree?
Did you run a (European) research programme, and are you eager to disseminate it’s outcomes and materials in a MOOC?
Are you looking for simplicity?
We offer an impactful Design Studio, spread over multiple subsequent sessions that leads to a crystal clear output: a 2-5 pager ‘fit for purpose framework’ for your course, degree or programme. This framework is a manifesto for your technical curriculum design.

OUTPUT
A 2-5 pager ‘fit for purpose framework’ for your course, degree or programme. This framework is a manifesto for your technical curriculum design. Have a look under technical resilience to learn more.
It is very rewarding to have this 2-5 pager curriculum. Once you have this, you can give it to an educational developer, or why not enter a Development Journey with us and start your modular design and development.

FACTS AND FIGURES
Startingdate: we determine the best moment together with you.Duration: one morning/afternoon per session (2,5 hours). The total number of sessions is a bespoke package for your unique needs and stakeholders, and ranges between 3-5.
For whom: This is something we can only do in co-creation with the core team of researchers/professors who are the decision makers who can sign off content. After all, simplicity means deciding on what we let go of, and the ‘new’ that comes in. An authentic combination of expertises and decision making power are what we neeed here. here.
We can, however, expand and explore more widely within your teaching/research team in seperate sessions.
Price: see below.
Language: English.
Location: It is essential for a work of the imagination, and of the hand, to have an inspiring venue.
Ideally, we can use a spacious physical room for the Design Studio days. Like architects, we gather around a large table, with paper and pen and sit around it for profound dialogues. This corresponds closely with our philosophy around craftmanship (after Sennett 2008). The hand and brain coordinate optimally to think and imagine in the most open-minded ways. We digitalise only later.
Alternatively, we can partner with you fully remotely, using technology for the visualisations.
TRANSFORMATION
The (Re-)Design Studio is a space, in which we (re)imagine with you a concrete output: a technically resilient ‘fit for purpose framework’ for the curriculum of your envisioned course, degree or programme. It takes the form of a 2-5 pager. Very easy to utilise as a basis for your further curriculum development.Imagine a season in which you and your academic team, enter various Design Studio (half)days, together, in a hands-on way, to visualise, dialogue, debate, discuss, even have constructive differences of opinion, and align and create - become effective in decision-making and make things simple.
The start of the Design Studio very much resembles our workshop ‘big ideas’. Together we identify hypes, undercurrents, emergent big ideas and building blocks for your curriculum. The Design Studio is about bringing you to a point of epiphanies and transformation. It is about opening up new boundaries, and sharpening your thinking.
The continuation of the Design Studio, is where we start to visualise for you how the curriculum might become, and through the act of creation, and the visualisation, you come to more realisations on the right decisions in terms of scope for your unique course/degree and setting.
Scope is everything, how much content fits within the time boundaries? The physical space is also an optimal place for adressing socio-emotional aspects of letting go face to face, in order to gain simplicity for the end product.
To avoid exploring literally everything the research team possibly finds important, at the same time, we start with a course/degree/programme focussed overview design in terms of the course’s blueprint. This gives the contours to the learning journey envisaged. By focusing on a bespoke pedagogy, we ensure to remain focussed on the overview and not to get stuck in details of formulating learning objectives.
All in all, the Design Studio gives you a whole new perspective with a view on a resilient curriculum that stands the test of time - by design (see also Breimer 2026).

PROGRAMME FOR THE PARTICIPANTS
Morning or Afternoon in a spacious, attractive venueSome 3-5 sessions spread over 1-2 seasons (3-6 months)
We design a unique Studio with an output that is good for the next ten years.
At the same time we prepare the ground for the Development Journey, by using well-tested elements from the Carpe Diem method for course design/development. Since our independent senior advisor was trained at the Technical University Delft (TU/D) - you will also recognise these elements.

PROGRAMME WITH YOU AS COORDINATOR
We follow the following set-up:Prior to delivery, we have a scoping call / in person meeting to co-create a bespoke workshop for your team, and define what success looks like.
Throughout we touch base, either with a call or face to face, about the process.
Afterwards, we have both an immediate consultation, and a reflection session remotely with you as coordinator, evaluating impact and spin-offs. We usually do this after the workshop at a moment when the new curriculum has been (partially) implemented for the most authentic and genuine evaluation and way forward.

IMPACT
A curriculum design can be an endless process, with a lot of dynamics coming in, from inertia, to typical academic or organisational issues - as well has just an enormous mountain of content. A socio-emotional impact seems inevitable too - for instance, about letting go of parts of a curriculum, or about what the new should look like. The need to redesign, create or innovate the curriculum, can just become a drag, or even never be realised.Instead, by hiring an external independent senior advisor, something fresh is possible. We take the alignment required with a research/lecturing team, partly out of your hands. We come in subtly, in between people and departments. And we work with time very much in mind, to give you a meaningful internal deadline.
One challenge is that a learning journey in a course/degree has a wholly different scope than that of an entire (research) programme. We visualise for you both the boundaries, and the contours of the curriculum. We help you to say what you mean, and be dedicated to conclusions to create a learning journey that speaks to the targeted audience.
We do not shy away from bringing in a draft, from confronting you on the content, from bringing in other perspectives - all at the sme time building on your own material. Through this loop of creating, and visualising we are dedicated to conclusions together with you. Where relevant we will include a graphic designer.
Certain academic or organisational cultures can be challenging in terms of ‘cutting a cord’, making the decision, and moving forward. We are dedicated to conclusions, and can do it also on your behalf. We can give full attention to the socio-emotional dimension as needed.
The benefits of having just a simple 2-5 pager in your hands, a manifesto for a course, degree or programme, a product of the participation of all, and robust well into the next 10 years - cannot be overrated.
