Are you and your team considering creating a new curriculum for a new master degree “from scratch”?

Have you been awarded a European fund, to establish a master program, and are you wondering how to exactly shape the curriculum?

Or perhaps, have you been muddling through, trying to re-design an existing curriculum of a longstanding master degree?

Allow us to come alongside you, and partner with you, to bring simplicity and something strategic and fresh.

OUTPUT

A full fledged curriculum design for the master degree, including all its modules, agreed upon by all stakeholders but not a comprimise in quality and relevance.

TRANSFORMATION

Our approach to the design of the curriculum of a master degree is strongly oriented towards the knowledge domain you envision.

What makes us unique is that with us you don’t start from scratch content-wise. We understand the field you are coming from, and keep an active interest in the field you are working in.

We would never tell you what to teach, but we do dare to ask you really good questions. We bring you cutting edge fresh ideas on possible angles you can take to your content. We take your pedagogical ideas, and amplify and deepen them for your (re)design.

We aim for a technically resilient curriculum that stands the test of time - by design (see Breimer 2026). We will always design in a modular way.

We infuse it with deep and innovative pedagogy.

And equally, we are experienced project managers and as independent senior external advisors, help you and your team with cut off dates for deliverables and decision-making.

A master degree is rarely completley new, as often it is a combination of existing courses, materials, lecturers - and before you know it, you risk overload. We understand that there is a socio-emotional dimension to letting go, and embracing the new. You will find this awareness interwoven in our unique approach of simplicity through the Design Studio.

Simplicity also directly relates to the financial health of your envisioned degree. We can bridge silos between your teaching team and the marketing team, bringing in a robust curriculum design centered on big ideas.

It is very essential to us, that you also have a healthy teaching team, throughout. This is why human resilience is wired through our design.

Have a look at our research, on a finite set of design angles, to discover more on how we approach a master degree. They include, on top of the aformentioned ones:
- Assessment
- Time dimension (ECTS, schedule)
- Multi- inter- transdisciplinarity
- Blended education

There is so much to say about the robust design of a curriculum for a master degree, why not have a free brainstorm session with us?

PROGRAM WITH YOU AS COURSE COORDINATOR

The pathway to arriving at a re/new design for the curriculum of a master degree, usually passes through three phases (after Diamond 2008):

1. Ensuring success - this includes preparatory conversations with key stakeholders. Project facilitation. Collecting data. Mapping needs. And gathering feedback.

2. Designing and developing the curriculum - gathering requirements to the curriculum, formulating design principles, visualising the ideal curriculum, and gathering feedback.

3. Embedding the curriculum - this phase is all about building the operational curriculum, and developing the learning pathways.

And then there is the most critical part of quality assurance in Higher Education:

4. Accreditation.

STUDIOBLENDED comes alongside you, and partners with you in phase two, whilst we are knowledgeable of all phases.

Our unique approach exists of:
- Workshop big ideas
- Design Studio
- Design Journey (depending on whether or not you’ll be working online/blended this will be completely worked out, or more losely articulated as the contours of courses and sessions)

There is a close attention to the ECTS of the degree, as well as juridical and administrative requirements of accreditations.

IMPACT

A curriculum design can be an endless process, with a lot of dynamics coming in, from inertia, to typical academic or organisational stuff - as well has just an enormous mountain of material. A socio-emotional impact seems inevitable too - for instance, about letting go of parts of a curriculum, or about what the new should look like. The need to redesign, create or innovate the curriculum, can just become dragging or even never be realised.

Instead, by hiring an external independent senior advisor, something fresh is possible.

We dare to take leadership. We take the alignment required with a research / lecturing team, partly out of your hands. We come in lightly, in between people and departments. And we work time-bound, to give you a meaningful internal deadline.

We don’t shy away from bringing in a draft, from provoking you on the content, from bringing other perspectives - all whilst building on your own material. Through this loop of creating, and visualising we are dedicated to conclusions together with you. Where relevant we will include a graphic designer.

Certain academic or organisational cultures can be challenging in terms of ‘cutting cord’, making the decision, and moving forward. We are dedicated to conclusions, and can do it also on your behalf. We can give proper attention to the socio-emotional dimension as needed.

The reward of having just a simple 2-5 pager in your hands, a manifesto of a course, degree or program, a product of the participation of all, and robust well into the next 10 years - cannot be overrated.

MEET THE INDEPENDENT SENIOR ADVISOR

Tikvah Breimer (MSc MAEd MSc) is an independent senior advisor, teacher trainer, and director of STUDIOBLENDED.

Our independent senior advisor is entering a trajectory to be trained as NVAO secretary for accreditation panels (2026). the NVAO is the respected Dutch Belgium authority for accreditation of degrees. In this way, we are not only able to help you with the technical curriculum design, but can also offer deep insider understanding of the accreditation criteria, juridical and administrative requirements for a master degree at European level.

Next to that, already, we always stay closely invovled ourselves with your target group, the students, through our ongoing work as advisor/mentor of thesis students. This is an excellent way also to deeply grasp the end terms of a master degree, and the way this is interpreted in a spectrum of European institutions.

FACTS AND FIGURES

Starting date: we can determine the best moment together with you. It should come however, after you have already internally had the preliminary conversations with key stakeholders (see below), and drafted a starting document to map out your needs and what success looks like.

Duration: multiple seasons. Possibly the timeline is determined by the accreditation trajectory. Much depends also on the unique nature of the process in your institution.

For who: academic master degree directors.

Price: bespoke quotation based on the work needed. See below.

Language: English.

Location: ideally we can work hybrid with you, and combine impactful face to face design sessions with remote check-ins. We will always suggest an inspiring location for you outside of your regular buildling, and equally are interested to visit your Faculty to get an holistic understanding of your course.

It is pivotal to meet the various stakeholders involved including:
- the director of education
- the degree committee
- the teaching team
- the exam committee
- the dean
- study advisors
- where possible, the students
- where relevant, representatives of the workfield/labour market
And importantly:
- your financial department
- your marketing team.
- your built environment/capacity
- logistics

It is helpful to have in-between moments of celebrations of milestones, and gather with the relevant people in a representative space to work on next steps. This infuses the process with positivity and beautiful winds of change.

PARTNERING

We come alongside a client, and operate as equal partners throughout the project duration of an advisory assignment.

We take on the double role as project manager and independent senior advisor for the content, pedagogy and curriculum design and development.

Our senior advisors expect to have an equal partner relationship with the client’s main focal point (i.e. a coordinator and the head of research in charge of signing off content), whereby client and advisor work together, combining the advisor’s specialist knowledge with relevant knowledge about the content, the organisation and access to the relevant departments.

Shared responsibility and joint decision making for the sake of ownership, allow the success and relevance of the identified outcomes and outputs.

PRICE

Our Studio gives you the desired result and impact, as a package price for your bespoke assignment.

Based on the information you provide we scope the form of the work and result needed (and your deadlines). We offer you a quotation for the entire package.

In principle, we do not draft up proposals as we prefer to keep things as simple as possible using dialogue and quotations.

We actively identify and co-create with European initiatives. Our agile approach, in between people and organisations, is especially suitable for coordinators who are not only visionary, but also themselves in charge of a project budget, such as Erasmus+ Programmes. In that way, we can make true impact.
