Vision
We envision making good education the standard for higher education course and degree coordinators. And by good, we mean:
- curricula shaped by innovative and deep pedagogical practices
- education that is resilient both technically and in content, and intentionally designed to last up to a decade.
Mission
We become your equal partner to give bespoke advice on an optimal curriculum design for a course or degree. We work with you to define the purpose and goals of education in your specific context.
How are we different from what you’re used to get?
Tikvah Breimer (MSc MAEd MSc), our independent senior advisor in curriculum design, holds dear her roots as a teacher. This gives her an inside take and she brings with her experience in a spectrum of institutions. From this footing we position education as ‘a thoroughly practical art’ (after Biesta 2022, p. vii), where it ‘refers to an activity, that is, to something educators do’ (ibid. 2022, p. 4).
As a studio we are not educational advisors or technocrats. Instead, we work with pedagogy and craftmanship from a range of perspectives. We really get the practice of teaching - and can help you realise good education - by design.
As a client you can expect our full attention, flexibility, open-mindedness, and a commitment to co-creation on the content, curriculum or learning journey.
What is innovative and deep pedagogy to us?
We believe Pedagogy goes beyond instruction and didactics. It involves theory, philosophy, context, culture, values, language and history. Our Studio stands out for its love for simple, resilient therefore deeply impactful pedagogical approaches.
What is resilience to us?
Our proposition is that resilience is two sides of the same coin: human and technical. One is not possible without the other.
Human resilience refers to your own resilience as higher education coordinator, lecturer or team of teachers. There is so much out there about student centered education. At a general level in Higher Education, our Studio would first of all love to see healthy, balanced university teachers. Teachers who experience a sense of wellbeing and fulfillment in their work and a sense of purpose in the work they offer the world today.
Technical resilience to us is about creating an impactful curriculum that is robust up to a decade. We really stand out with our focus on curricula that stand the test of time, exactly because we design from the inside out - starting with the content. We do that in partnership with you, the content expert.
Durable design not only is smart in the triple constraint of quality, time and cost investment; it leads to purposeful education and human resilience of your teaching staff.
Just as good technical design will also lead to healthy human resilience of your teaching team. That is our conviction.
Legal Statutes
Here is our raison d’etre, as stated in article 3 of our statutes, as drafted by the notary in 2022:
‘The foundation has the objective to (1) enlarge the resilience and capacities of teachers and trainers, both in higher education and beyond, (2) to design, stimulate and develop sustainable good education.
The Foundation attempts to reach this objective amongst others by:
- facilitating education and training for teachers and trainers, both in higher education and beyond
- designing, developing, testing, implementing and evaluating educational programs and educational methods
- advising universities, local governments, non governmental organisations and organisations for capacity development, as well as individual teachers.
The Foundation does not aim to make a profit.
We aim to offer the highest level of qualitative, personalised advice and training.
Foundation
Why a foundation? We take the long-term approach.
Being a foundation allows us to ensure integrity, trustworthiness and continuity in the client relationships we build. Because as a foundation, we never compete, but seek cross-learning from all active and inspiring players in this field.
Being a non profit foundation means that all our income flows back into the foundation. This allows us to invest in sustainability and a holistic approach.
We do not accept donations, since we protect our independent advice fiercely (see our manifesto). Instead, we operate in a more entrepreneurial way, creating our own work and seeking collaborations.
Pool of freelancers
When including experts from our network and pool of freelancers, we work as an agile team.
We receive independent legal and financial advice.
