for young or aspiring university teachers, with a training of trainers (ToT) component

This on-site training option is very much part contextualised within our SouthSouth European capacity development explorations, including the audio podcasts.

This on-site variation of the resilience course is much more compact, truly a 1 week training all-in, whereby the teacher training comes to the participants on-campus.

This on-site training doesn’t focus on an entire course curriculum design, but rather on the ability to design for a single blended module. It is therefore especially suitable for young PhD candidates, or recent graduates (sometimes post doc) who are embarking on an academic career (research) which also includes teaching components. Our participatory action research (PAR) and clientwork shows that young aspiring teachers, possibly to date have only been assisting a professor, and once they graduate as a PhD, they are expected to start other forms of teaching such as lectures, workshops. Without any teacher training they may tend to copy examples they know from traditional academia, examples around them of energetic professors, who may nevertheless lack technique and pedagogy. They may be nervous. What they need is clarity on what makes for a qualitative technical / pedagogical curriculum design for a module. In that way, they can confidently design for their own lectures and workshops, and enjoy a lifelong journey of growth as a teacher.

Our on-site training guides teachers confidently through the essential modules of the StudiOpedia. They ingeneously also gain first hand experience with blended, bichronous and face to face teaching that uses live time optimisation. Whenever suitable - depending on the curated group - a teaching of trainers (ToT) compentent is included.

Every participant follows a blended learning journey of several modules in 1 week, but through interaction with peers and the trainer, and the possibilities asynchronous, creates their own ecosystem to learn. A similar feel as the resilience course, but geared towards technical design.

At the end of this training, we expect participants to say: 
“I have gained technique and pedagogy to know how to design a technically and humanly resilient module, that leads to effective learning, and I feel confident".
