Asynchronous unstructured time to us refers to the time of the learner (!) away from the connectivity and communication altogether (unstructured time as opposed to structured learning, it is: offline, informal learning).

Idealy even, it is possible to learn, away from the screen.

You can design for this. And it can even be collaborative (uploading work later, into a connected online realm).
